The Effect of the Brevity Strategy on Reading Comprehension among Second-Grade Intermediate Students in Arabic Language

Abstract

The aim of the research is to know (the impact of the brevity strategy on reading comprehension among students of the second intermediate grade in the Arabic language), to achieve the aim of the research, the two researchers formulated (there is no statistically significant difference at the level of (0.05) between the average scores of the experimental group students who study the reading material according to the brevity strategy, and between the average scores of the students of the control group who study the reading material according to the traditional method of reading comprehension test), the two researchers depended the experimental approach as a method for his research, and chose the experimental design of the experimental and control groups design for her research, the research community consisted of students of the second grade intermediate in the six directorates of education of Baghdad Governorate, the researchers chose Khadija Al-Kubra intermediate school intentionally and the research sample reached (72) students in each group (36) students.


The two researchers prepared an achievement test, consisting of (30) item tool for research, and verified the apparent and structural validity and stability and used appropriate statistical means in the processing of data, and after the application of the test reached the following result: "The existence of a statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) between the average scores of students of the experimental group and the average scores of students of the control group in the reading comprehension test and for the benefit of the experimental group."   In light of this, the two researchers drew several conclusions and recommended several recommendations and proposed several suggestions.
