Abstract

This paper estimates the length-weight relationship (WLR) parameters of yellowfin (Thunnus albacares) and bigeye (Thunnus obesus) tunas captured using gillnets and handlines in the South China Sea from March 25 to July 12, 2019. The study measured the total length (TL) and weighted 394 yellowfin and 213 bigeye tuna in nearest cm and 0.1 kg, respectively. This study also provided new data on of maximum lengths for those species. The results help improving the knowledge base needed for further fish biology studies, stock assessment, and fisheries management.
