Abstract

The present study was carried out to determine the antioxidant potential of S. molesta. The antioxidant activity was evaluated by DPPH, Hydroxyl Radical Scavenging and Total Antioxidant assays and its IC50 values were also determined. Two solvent extracts such as ethanol and acetic acid were chosen for the study. The results showed that the extracts had significant antioxidant activity in all the three tested assays. The ethanol extract revealed the highest antioxidant activity. DPPH assay showed better activity than other assays.
