Teeth are meant to be in a dynamic occlusal equilibrium and loss of even a single tooth causes disharmony. The effects of tooth loss may range from malocclusion, hyper-eruption, speech- defects, periodontal problems, drifting of adjacent teeth to even TMJ problems.
