Abstract

 


The study covers personal variables and awareness of covid-19 vaccination of students in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Specifically, the study covers the influence of age, gender, self-concept and attitude on awareness of Covid-19 vaccination in the study area. In Nigeria, and indeed globally, the issue of Covid-19 was greeted with so much dismay and tension considering its mode of spread from person to person and the aftermath dead that follows. Statistically, records have shown that millions of death have been recorded globally with thousands in Nigeria. However, since the advent of the Covid-19 vaccines, many people have had mix-feelings about it, with some wondering what the aftermath effect will be on them. This and many more has been the case of the secondary school students. A sample of one hundred and sixty (160) respondents were used for the study. The selection was done through the simple random sampling technique. The questionnaire was the main instrument used for data collection. The 0.5 level of significant was used for the statistical testing of each of the hypothesis. The result of the analysis revealed that, School authorities and relevant health experts should create awareness on Covid-19 vaccination among students and the society at large, letting them to know the health benefits and implications of taking the vaccines.
