Abstract

An organism whose native environment is salt or brackish water produces a protein molecule called a marine enzyme, which has several unusual features. Bacteria and fungi capable of degrading cellulose are abundant in the marine environment, where they help mineralize organic debris and have a significant impact on the productivity of the sea. The sampling was conducted in the coastal Bay of Bengal at different depths and at different stations. The study helps in the isolation, screening of bacteria with cellulose degradation capability from different samples of Off Visakhapatnam waters and mangrove sediments.
