Constructing a Program According to Structural Criticism to Develop Critical Skills among Students of Arabic Language Departments in the Colleges of Education

Abstract

This research aims to construct a program according to structural criticism to develop critical skills among students of Arabic language departments in the colleges of education.


To achieve the goal of the research, the researcher prepared an educational program that included educational objectives, theoretical and applied content, appropriate teaching methods, accompanying activities and educational means to implement this program.


The validity of the program was verified by presenting it to a group of arbitrators and experts.


To know the effectiveness of the proposed program, the researcher adopted an experimental design, which is the design of one experimental group with two tests before and after.


The researcher chose a sample of (42) male and female students from the fourth grade students, Department of Arabic Language at College of Education - Ibn Rushd.


The researcher studied the research group in the proposed program himself, and prepared a test of critical skills consisting of (20) essay questions, where the researcher made sure of its validity and stability before applying it.


The experiment lasted a full semester after the researcher conducted a pre-test for the students of the research group and after he completed the program conducted a post-test for the students of the research group, and using the T-test for two interrelated samples and the test of Wilcoxen and Mann and Whitney were extracted results, namely: 


1-         The superiority of the students of the research group in the post-test to develop critical skills


2-         There was no statistically significant difference between male and female students of the research group attributed to the gender variable.


In light of the results of the research, the researcher concluded that the proposed program has a clear effectiveness in developing the critical skills of students of Arabic language departments in the faculties of education.


In that, the researcher recommended the need to adopt the proposed program in teaching literary criticism to students of Arabic language departments in the faculties of education, and suggested conducting complementary studies to this study, including a study similar to the current study of other subjects in the Arabic language, and a study similar to the current study of the third grades of Arabic language departments in the faculties of education.
