Abstract

The contribution of agriculture to the Indian economy is quite significant. Farmers are the backbone of our country. Because of this, the present research is taken up with the main intention to analyse the stress, anxiety, depression, perceived social support and psychological well-being of farmers belonging to the Tenkasi district. The sampling method adopted for this research is judgemental sampling. 150 samples of farmers in the Tenkasi district were taken for this research. Data were collected with the help of a structured schedule through direct personal interviews. The statistical tools used for the analysis are the percentage and weighted average ranking methods. The economic problem causes stress among farmers. The lack of technological facilities and working conditions affects the psychological well-being of farmers. The study suggests the need to improve the socio-economic wellbeing of farmers to access to social support and promote stress management.
