Aerospace Applications First Iteration Fractal Patch Antenna Design Using CPW Fed and Comparison of its RF Performance with a Basic Square Patch Antenna

Abstract
Aim: To design, simulation of a firstiteration of fractal patch antenna and comparing its RF performance with basic square patch antenna for aerospace applications using HFSS software is discussed in this article. Materials and Methods: The RF performance (Return loss, Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) of first iteration fractal patch antenna (n=32) is compared with basic square patch antenna (n=32) for Aerospace applications. The 64 samples were calculated using sample calculation with a pre-test power of 80 %. Result: First iteration fractal patch antenna has improved RF performance (Return loss= -26.4937 dB, VSWR=0.8232) than the basic square patch antenna (Return loss= -24.4325 dB, VSWR=1.0441). The optimized dimensions of the novel first iteration fractal patch antenna were 41.9 x 51 x 1.6 mm3. Attained significance of RF performance value p<0.05. Conclusion: The first iteration fractal patch antenna has significantly better RF performance than the basic square patch antenna.
