Abstract
Pre-eclampsia is a multi-system disorder; it deteriorates all systems within the body if it is not diagnosed and treated at the right time. The complications of pre-eclampsia are common with poor outcomes of the pregnancy. HELLP syndrome is one of the life-threatening complications reported in severe pre-eclampsia and eclampsia. Postnatal depression is mostly observed in women who deliver a baby for the first time. The main objective of this paper to study a case of severe pre-eclampsia and eclampsia with complications of HELLP syndrome and postpartum depression. The investigators report a case of a postnatal woman who delivered a female baby with the diagnosis of severe pre-eclampsia complicated with HEELP syndrome and postpartum depression. This case was successfully managed with a timely diagnosis of complications, ie. HELLP syndrome. The investigators followed up on this case for one month by making three telephonic calls and attending her four postnatal visits. The systematic laboratory reports and administration of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale helped the clinicians and other health care workers involved in this case to diagnose the case judiciously and make interferences decorously to save the mother and baby's life.
